Travel Works

I've been lucky enough to travel to UK/Europe- my most recent being trips to Italy and France. Sometimes I have time to en plein air paint and othertimes I need to use a photo reference after I am home. It's so nice to relive the moments by looking at or creating new pieces from old memories. I'm luckily a pretty decent and prolific photographer- so I have a wealth of possible prospects "on tap".

Leslie Gulch

A plein air piece done in Eastern Oregon under threatening thunder clouds of the amazing volcanic outcrops in Leslie Gulch (named for the settler killed by lightning!) Kitty Wallis particularly liked this piece when she judged an NPS Members Show.

Sienna Side of Tuscany

From a "Hail Mary" photo from the bus I was on. I loved seeing the Sienna soils showing their color- and Oh, that slanting light...

Cassanova Rosso

This pastel was done from my own photo of the winery on the estate where we stayed in Tuscany with some other artists. Our favorite wine with our nightly feast was Cassanova Rosso!

Cliffs at Entretat

A lovely spot on Normandy coast where many Impressionists painted- I, alas had no time to paint en plein air- this is from a photo.

Black Sand Beach

I got to go to Hawaii with my sisters- so nice to get the 4 of us together on a vacation. I painted this at Panalu'u State Park.
