Pastels are pure pigment held together by Gum Tragacanth or other binder. They layer well if you know how to handle them. Here I have laid in the basic composition and I am waiting for the (short) RED sunset to develop. I will frantically paint in the reds when they arrive!

For most of my artistic life, my nickname has been Sam- it's how I started signing my work in Art classes, then I became SAMK (Sam Knapp)when I married. It's my great shorthand signature on my works, even though most people call me Anne these days.
